Presentation of CASA: A Pioneering Tool for Territorial Crisis Monitoring in Puerto Williams

On Wednesday, August 27, at 11:00 a.m., the Subantarctic Center Library will host a gathering of researchers, authorities, organizations, and the local community for the presentation of CASA — a digital tool grounded in scientific evidence and enhanced with artificial intelligence (AI) for monitoring territorial crises.

Under the theme “How science and technology help us become more resilient,” the event aims to highlight how technological innovation can contribute to the prevention, early detection, and management of critical situations in geographically sensitive areas with high environmental and social vulnerability.

A Response to the Territory’s Challenges

CASA is designed as a comprehensive response to the growing need for systems capable of analyzing, in real time, social, environmental, and logistical variables that allow authorities and organizations to anticipate emergencies and manage more coordinated responses. This tool compiles critical information, processes it, and transforms it into key analyses for rapid and well-founded decision-making.

The event will focus on how the use of AI-powered scientific models enhances communities’ adaptability and recovery in the face of undesired events, such as climate change crises, health emergencies, or logistical contingencies. Organizers see CASA as a qualitative leap over traditional systems, as it enables the integration of heterogeneous data and its visualization in an accessible format, fostering collaboration among territorial stakeholders.

A Space for Participation and Dialogue

The invitation is open to all those who wish to gain an in-depth understanding of this tool. Researchers, representatives of public and private institutions, community leaders, and residents of Puerto Williams will be able to participate and contribute perspectives that strengthen local resilience. This gathering seeks to promote the application of science and technology in the service of sustainable development, reinforcing the commitment to territories that, due to their particular conditions, require adaptive and collaborative solutions.
